“The little I was able to do, due to my somewhat weakened hand, may still be of benefit to me”, September 1835

“As the doctor ordered, I stayed in Teplitz for almost six weeks – for reasons you are aware of. I am now quite well again and hope that the effects of the spa will also restore my hand’s ability to paint. The weather has been splendid the entire time, and the beautiful surroundings of Teplitz and the little I was able to do, due to my somewhat weakened hand, may still be of benefit to me if I ever regain the ability to paint.”
– Friedrich to his nephew Heinrich Friedrich
